Flat Rock Elementary is one of DeKalb’s newest elementary schools. The state-of-the-art two story building houses 60 classrooms, a computer lab, a science lab, a library/media center, and a cafetorium. We are located in the Lithonia area of east DeKalb County. We officially opened our doors at the beginning of the 2007 – 2008 school year.
The mission of Flat Rock Elementary is to provide each child with a quality and nurturing educational environment to become productive citizens embracing life-long learning. In honor of the indelible historic community in which the school is located, Flat Rock Elementary school’s motto is: “Celebrating a Legacy, While Creating a Legacy.”
A cooperative learning environment is encouraged in numerous ways including seating students in groups versus row assignments.
